Gully Boy box office day 2: The Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt film slows down, collects ₹32 crore
Gully Boy box office collection on Friday is reported to be ₹13.10 crore. The Zoya Akhtar film is Ranveer Singh’s second highest opening ever after Simmba and Alia Bhatt’s highest ever.
Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt recorded a wonderful start at the box office on Valentine’s Day but slowed down on Friday, which was a working day. The film collected ₹13 crore on its second day. With an opening of ₹19.40 crore, the film had become Alia’s highest opening film and Ranveer’s second highest after his last film Simmba that opened at ₹20 crore.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office figures of the film. He tweeted, “GullyBoy dips in metros [marginal] and mass circuits/Tier-2 cities [maximum] on Day 2... Day 3 [Sat] and Day 4 [Sun] should witness substantial growth at metros [target audience]... Strong *extended* weekend on cards... Thu 19.40 cr, Fri 13.10 cr. Total: ₹32.50 cr. India biz.”
Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy got the advantage of releasing on Valentine’s Day but showed a 30 per cent drop due to a working Friday. It is expected to improve during the weekend amid good reviews and positive word of mouth.
According to the HT box office predictions report, the film is expected to collect around ₹80 crore in its first weekend.
Gully Boy is the story of an aspiring rapper Murad (Ranveer Singh), who beats all odds to win a rap contest and a cash prize that changes his life. It is inspired by the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy. Alia plays Ranveer’s hot-headed girlfriend in the film who aspires to become a surgeon but has her own share of struggles.

The film received a great response at the Berlin International Film Festival. Hollywood actor Will Smith also took to his Instagram to praise Ranveer’s work in the film.
Ranveer’s last film Simmba went on to become his highest grosser with domestic box office collections of over ₹240 crore. Alia’s last film Raazi was her highest grosser and collected ₹123 crore at the domestic box office.
