Akshay Kumar’s association with singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya goes back several years. In fact, the duo has had a very successful stint together working on hits such as ‘Balma’, and ‘Rafta rafta’. They have worked together in films like Aitraaz (2004),

Namastey London (2007) and last year’s release Khiladi 786, among others. So much so, that the actor believes that Himesh is his lucky charm and has managed to rope him in at the last minute to compose a special Punjabi track titled ‘Soniyo’ for his next, Special 26.

A source close to the film reveals, “Akshay is known for his masala entertainers that always have at least one foot-tapping Punjabi song.

So this time, he spoke to his director, Neeraj Pandey, and got Himesh Reshammiya to sing a song for Special 26.”

The source adds, “Himesh has always done at least one hit song for Akshay. In fact, all the songs in their last film, Khiladi 786, which was even directed by Himesh, have been chartbusters and still continue to top music charts. ‘Soniyo’ is a wedding song picturised on Akshay and Kajal (Aggarwal). Akshay will be seen sporting a Pathani suit in the song.”

When contacted, Neeraj confirms the news saying, “Himesh has a unique ability to come up with great songs. He was the right guy

for the kind of number that we were looking for.”
