Actor Pooja Hegde is thoroughly enjoying this phase in her professional life — it’s full of comedy and romance. She is in the fourth instalment of the comedy franchise, Housefull, and also has a bilingual film opposite Baahubali star Prabhas.
Pooja, who has been a part of films in the south and made her Bollywood debut with the 2016 film Mohenjo-Daro, opposite Hrithik Roshan, is happy that she has got her first comedy film. “I always wanted my second film to be bigger, and on the same scale as my debut. And it has been a ride. It’s daily fun on the sets of Housefull. Akshay [Kumar] sir, Riteish [Deshmukh] and Sajid [Khan, the director] are a total madhouse. The energy and fun that we have translates into the film, and that’s what the audiences also enjoy,” says Pooja.
The actor adds that since she has attempted this genre of comedy for the first time, she was a bit nervous, initially. “It’s a very difficult one, since you have to have the comic timing [right]. Akshay sir and Riteish are amazing, since they are veterans in this [genre] — it’s the fourth Housefull. You have to match up to their energy levels. Making someone laugh in general is difficult, and I’m taking it as a challenge,” says Pooja.
Her film with Prabhas has been generating a lot of buzz. While she doesn’t divulge much, she says, “It’s going to be an interesting period romantic drama, a love story. I’m happy with the way my career is shaping up, but I want more.”
