The special masks are made of wax, which was brought from London. “Special make-up artistes were called in to stick it to Hrithik’s face. They were present on the sets round-the-clock because the masks weren’t easy to manage,” says an insider close to the film. Interestingly, by the end of the film, Hrithik ended up using around 500 masks. “While shooting in hot and humid conditions in India — in the film studios in Hyderabad, and in Mumbai, the mask would get distorted and start melting. This was because of the high temperature, which would often go up to as high as 44 degrees. At times, it seems it was so hot that in a day, he would end up changing five to six masks,” adds the insider.

Apparently, the Roshans went in for the special masks because they look real. “When Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan came to know of such masks, they immediately decided to use them despite the high cost,” adds the insider.

The Roshans couldn’t be reached for a comment on the story.
