Aanand L Rain the director of the Tanu Weds Manu series says that for the time being he isn’t thinking about the third part of the series. He refuses to talk about his next film which may star Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt.

There has been a lot of speculation about Aanand L Rai’s next ­directorial after Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Rumour has it that Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt will be starring in it. The director refuses to confirm the news when we ask him. “Before you make a new film, you have to live life. I am doing that. I am working on my script and meeting actors. I am enjoying the ­process. Let’s not jump the gun. Wait for the announcement. It’s too early to talk about the cast,” he says.

Of late, Aanand has started backing other directors’ films as a producer, a move that many call an effort to create a ‘film factory’. “I get scared at the word ‘factory’. They must have intended to say ­‘family’,” he says, elaborating on the films he’s lined up, as producer. One of them will feature Abhay Deol and Diana Penty. Another will star Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar. Ask him if he’ll make a third instalment of the Tanu Weds Manu series, and he says, “I won’t make a third part just because it is a brand, or because it will work. Let’s not treat it like a series. Right now, there is no part three. I think I am done with the characters, at least for now.”
