Actor Anushka Sharma is often seen chilling, attending parties and getting clicked with beau, cricketer Virat Kohli, 28, but she doesn’t talk much about her love life. That’s because she calls herself “open yet guarded”. “I’m an honest person, and don’t lead my life on other people’s terms. I don’t hide anything about myself so I don’t find it difficult to talk about things that happen in my life... But at the same time, I don’t like putting myself out there too much. That’s how I am,” says the 28-year-old who was in Delhi on Tuesday (Dec 6), to attend a conclave.

Rumours and controversies are a part and parcel of a celeb’s life. Do these affect her? “I don’t have any sense of inhibition, so I’m able to lead my life with a lot of honesty. I understand that ups and downs in life keep wavering and it’s important to understand them and why they happen. So I learn whatever I have to and then move forward,” says Anushka, as she spoke to us on a call while rushing to the airport.

I believe I should just carry on with my life and lead it as normally as I can. If someone does take a picture and puts it up here and there, I really can’t help it

On Monday (December 5), Virat and Anushka attended designer Manish Malhotra’s 50th birthday bash in Mumbai, and were seen hand-in-hand. Earlier, photos and videos of the two dancing together at cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s wedding in Goa (on December 2) went viral on the internet in no time. Is social media too intrusive? “I don’t think much about all this because you can only do what’s under your control. I believe I should just carry on with my life and lead it as normally as I can. If someone does take a picture and puts it up here and there, I really can’t help it.”

Anushka adds that she doesn’t pay heed to what’s reported about her. “I don’t dig myself out on social media. Knowing what’s written about me or what one’s posting on Instagram and Twitter is not on the top of my list. I’m not curious in that sense, and I feel that’s how you maintain your sanity. However much you want to engage on social media, you have the freedom to ditch it too.” True that!
