When British-Indian film-maker Asif Kapadia bagged an Oscar for his documentary, Amy (2015), his long-time friend, Irrfan Khan, was “thrilled”. A source says, “About 15 years ago, Irrfan started his international film journey with The Warrior (2001), which was directed by Asif. The award-winning British movie opened the doors of international cinema for both of them. They have been great friends since then. Irrfan even helped Asif with the premiere of Amy in India.”
