Legendary Bollywood lyricist and Urdu poet, the late Sahir Ludhiavni, penned some of the most memorable Hindi film songs, such as Abhi na jaao chhod kar’, Main zindagi ka saath nibhat (both Hum Dono, 1961) and Main pal do pal ka shayar’ (Kabhi Kabhi 1976).
Besides his evergreen songs, Ludhianvi was also known for his romanticrelationship with author Amrita Pritam. Now, this love story will soon be chronicled in an upcoming film, in which actor Irrfan Khan will play the lead role.
"Irrfan has already given his nod to the project. The film has been tentatively titled Gustaakhiyan, and the pre-production work is currently going on," says an industry insider.
We’ve also got to know that Priyanka Chopra has been approached to play Pritam. "The makers want to cast an actress who can hold her own in front of an actor of Irrfan’s calibre," adds the insider.
While producer Ashi Dua remains non-committal about the film, Irrfan confirms the news, "I signed the film about a month-and-a-half back. It has a beautiful story, and the role of a lifetime. Once I wrap up the Jurassic World shoot, I will start work on this film. The shoot will most likely start around the year-end."
