Janhvi Kapoor is yet to make her debut as an actor but does anyone have a doubt that she is already a star? Where ever she goes, paparazzi follows, be it her gym or a restaurant. Her mother, late Sridevi’s sudden death, has made the nation even more curious about this young girl. She is a Bollywood star kid and hence, some degree of interest was only to be expected. However, the kind of frenzy she manages to arouse is quite another.

Her debut film, Dhadak, is yet to hit the screens but Janhvi is well on her way to becoming a bonafide star. She recently posed for her first magazine cover for Vogue and gave an interview too. Interviewing her was, of course, her mentor Karan Johar. Looking ravishing in a summer look, Janhvi is sporting a primarily blue and maroon flower printed dress. In another, she wears a grey and white outfit.

Now, we all know how Karan is rather protective about Janhvi. Strange as it may sound but apparently Sridevi never wanted Janhvi to join films. Karan noted how in her growing up years, Janhvi was more likely to be seen with US Weekly rather than Filmfare. Talking about her mother’s reservations, Janhvi said that it was indeed true that Sridevi didn’t want Janhvi in films as she felt that Janhvi was naive and that one needed to be thick skinned to survive in this industry. Sridevi always felt more relaxed about Khushi getting into films. Sridevi, herself a seasoned actor, loved her work but also knew how intense the experience could be.

How did Janhvi fare as a student in school? Well, turns out, she wasn’t great but wasn’t bad either. When it came to attendance, it was a sorry 30%. And the reason for that was the fact that she was constantly travelling with her parents and much of her education happened on the sets! Her favourite subjects were English and History and in the rest of the subjects, she just about passed. Believe it or not, as a student, Janhvi wanted to do many things -- study art history in Florence, fashion in London and acting in Los Angeles. She finally settled for an acting course in Los Angeles.

What’s more, her mommy was apprehensive about leaving Janhvi alone in Los Angeles too. “Phool ko kichad mein chhod kar chali ja rahi hu main! (I’m leaving my little flower in the muck),” she is said to have said.

As unfortunate as it could get, Sridevi’s passing away brought the four children of Boney Kapoor, her father, really close. Speaking about it, Janhvi said how the whole experience of bonding with each other made them feel safe and secure and how that was a source of great comfort for their dad too.

Reacting about paparazzi’s new found love for her, she seemed almost embarrassed about being the nation’s newest obsession. Acutely aware that she is still to make her mark, she nonetheless acknowledged that she felt flattered. However, she quickly added how she never knows how to react to photographers -- she is always debating -- must she wave and smile at the camera or simply hide.

Elaborating about how missed Sridevi every single day, Janhvi added that she needed her mother even for simplest of things -- she’d often ask her to put her to bed, sometimes ask Sridevi to feed her. Quizzed about being maternal to kid sister Khushi now that mom has gone, she said that actually, it was the other way round -- it’s Khushi who sometimes put Janhvi to bed!
