Ekta Kapoor plans to shoot portions of the Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai sequel in a Muslim-dominated country, Kareena Kapoor reportedly to play a Mandakini-like character.
is still being developed, speculation is rife that the film is underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s story. Producer Ekta Kapoor is not amused. “It’s Shoaib Khan’s story, not Dawood’s,” she says.
She, however, admits that portions of the film will be shot in a Muslim-dominated country that may or may not be Dubai. “But 70 per cent of it will be filmed in Mumbai of the ‘80s,” she adds.
In the sequel, Akshay Kumar has replaced Emraan Hashmi, who played Shoaib in the earlier film. “This is the first time I’m playing an
underworld don and I can’t wait for the film to start,” says an excited Akshay.
Reportedly, Kareena Kapoor may be roped in to play a character modelled on actor Mandakini. While Kareena insists she hasn’t been approached yet, if Ekta and director Milan Luthria feel she suits the part, she may take it up as a challenge. “
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai
was one of the best films of last year and even if it’s a Mandakini-like character, I’m sure it won’t be along the lines of the sexy under-the-waterfall song from
Ram Teri Ganga Maili
,” says Kareena.
Ekta insists that apart from Akshay, no other actor has been signed on yet. She says, “Whenever I tell Milan I need to book my actors, he tells me to wait till the script is locked and we know who fits the part best.”
