Munna Michael director Sabbir Khan feels that no actor from today’s generation can be called a superstar.

Director Sabbir Khan has been a part of the film industry for many years now, and has helmed films such as Kambakkht Ishq (2009), Heropanti (2014) and Baaghi (2016). His new film, Munna Michael, features actors Tiger Shroff and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. While it is a known fact that he’s good friends with Tiger, working with Nawaz in his latest has left Sabir in awe of his acting skills. He says, “I had a fantastic time working with Nawaz. We all know that he’s a great actor, but more importantly, he’s a good human being.” Sabbir recalls the time he approached the 43-year old actor for Munna Michael. “The first time I narrated the script to him, he stood up and said, ‘We will discuss the details later. I am doing this film’. Right from that point of time, we have become good friends, and even call each other every few days to stay in touch,” says Sabbir.

Asked about who has the potential to become a superstar from the current crop of actors, he says, “Everyone today is doing good work, and it is difficult to put your finger on someone and say this person will become a superstar. The era of such big stars existed from the time of Rajesh Khanna till the time of Hrithik Roshan.” Sabbir feels that the invasion of technology has led to stars being too accessible to their fans, who now get a chance to interact with their favourite celebrities on social media platforms. “Satellite television and internet came and the aura around a superstar ceased to exist. Today, it is only about being praised for good work and criticised for the opposite,” he says.
