No khaki for Rani Mukerji's cop-avatar

Rani Mukerji, who is playing a cop in her next, is hardly going to be seen wearing the uniform. “She will be seen in khaki only once in the film. Her usual on-screen attire will be jeans and T-shirts, or salwar kameez,” says a source.

When Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn played cops in their respective films, their characters flaunted the khaki uniform with much pomp and show. In fact, it was observed that actors’ sharply tailored khakis and trendy aviators became such a rage that even local cops were seen emulating their style.

Hence, it comes as a surprise that Rani Mukerji, who is playing a cop in her next, is hardly going to be seen wearing the uniform. “She will be seen in khaki only once in the film. Her usual on-screen attire will be jeans and T-shirts, or salwar kameez,” says a source from the production house.

Apparently, in the film — which is directed by Pradeep Sarkar and produced by Rani’s husband, Aditya Chopra — she plays an undercover investigating officer.

“While working on a case, it was important for her character to not be recognised as a cop. Besides, showing a police officer at work in plain clothes also adds an element of realism to the film,” adds the source.
