“I have never expected any role to come to me, I have only expected to do work that I have not done before. When you try content like Baahubali, it is something which no one in the country has done ever. You can’t expect these films to come your way, unless you are designed to be part of them. I am much happier working on my career this way, as opposed to doing work which has been done already,” says Daggubati, who made his Bollywood debut with Dum Maaro Dum(2011).

For the 32-year-old actor, his career is not divided into Hindi or Tamil cinema.

“I have never planned a career in that set up, where I think of films as Hindi or Tamil. It has never mattered to me if have done a Hindi, Tamil or Telugu film. It has always been ultimately the story that I have to tell everyone and it has never gone to the conclusion to which story I have told is in Hindi or not,” says the actor, whose role of Bhallala Deva in multilingual film Baahubali was appreciated by the masses.

Daggubati, whose last Bollywood film was Baby (2015), adds, “Each film will give you the way it has to lend its story to. I guess I keep doing films keeping that in mind in opposed to saying that I will do Hindi films next year or a Tamil film next year. Had I maintained a strategy, I don’t think I would have been able to do films like Baahubali and would have continued doing regular films that others are doing,” he adds.
