The Chopra sisters — Priyanka and Parineeti — have individually made their presence felt in Bollywood through their films and performances.
And now, to add to that, the National Award-winning siblings, who are known to be very close, are even helping each other professionally. A source close to Yash Raj Films (YRF) tells us that the younger of the two, Parineeti, was the one who recommended Priyanka for the lead role in the production house’s next, Gunday, opposite Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
The source says, “Parineeti is like the baby at YRF. Everyone there loves her and she’s like family. She has worked there even before YRF launched her in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl (2011).”
The source explains further, “When they began searching for the female lead in Gunday, a lot of discussions took place at the YRF office. They wanted a girl who could pull off a tough role with a lot of ease. That’s when Parineeti stepped in and suggested that they should consider Priyanka for the role.”
Though Parineeti is just two films old, she’s close to everyone at YRF, including Aditya Chopra, says the source.
“When Parineeti suggested Priyanka’s name, there was no second thought. In fact, everyone at YRF was happy that Priyanka was selected as she suits the role perfectly. They were also glad that Parineeti suggested it.”
Meanwhile, we’re also told that the people at YRF are delighted that Parineeti won the National Award for their film, Ishaqzaade (2012). The source says, “With just her second film, she has managed to bag the most coveted award in the country. YRF is happy that they discovered such good talent.” Parineeti is currently shooting for her next YRF project and remained unavailable for comment.
