Playback singers have to depend on live shows to make money: Armaan Malik

Armaan Malik says that live shows are the only way for playback singers to make money and sustain themselves.

He has made a big name in the industry by singing hits such as Main Hoon Hero Tera and Tumhe Apna Banane Ka among others, but singer Armaan Malik reveals that playback singing is not a lucrative option for singers.

“Honestly, it’s not as great as one would think. At the end of the day a playback singer has to depend on live shows as their source of income. I think that live shows are more important for singers than composers, because composers still get a lot of recognition as compared to a singer. For an individual, playback singing is not enough to sustain a career and it is not really a main source of income,” he says.

Quite serious about his live shows, Armaan is soon heading to the US and England for his debut world tour.
“I am pretty excited as it is the first time I will be performing over there. Plus people over there are more excited about such concerts because they are so far away from Bollywood and from us. They don’t get to see Indian artists much so from that perspective, I feel they are more connected to Indian music than people who live here. For an artist to go there and perform, is a special experience and I am really looking forward to it,” he continues.
