Priyanka Chopra begins shooting for Mary Kom biopic today

Fighting the loss of her father’s (on June 10), actor Priyanka Chopra is set to begin shoot for director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Mary Kom biopic.

Priyanka Chopra has always had the reputation of being a hardworking actor. But after her father’s death (on June 10), everyone, including director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, thought she would take some time off from shooting.

After a recent report claiming that she will start physical training for the Mary Kom biopic, now comes the news that Priyanka wants to start shooting right away. The film’s set is ready at Filmistan, Mumbai. And the actor had been training hard to play the boxer, but after her dad’s death, the plans of shooting were put on hold. However, she has now apparently insisted that she is ready for work.

A source says, “When Priyanka’s father was unwell, Bhansali told her that the shooting of the Mary Kom biopic can wait. Then, three days ago, they spoke and Priyanka expressed her desire to resume work. Bhansali once again told her that there was no hurry. But she said her dad would have wanted her to work, so she would like to do so and is ready to start shooting for the film. That’s when Bhansali agreed and locked June 17 as the day for the mahurat shot.”

Bhansali’s spokesperson confirms the news, saying, “The shoot will start on Monday (today). Priyanka is resuming work now, even though Mr Bhansali asked her to take her time.”
