Priyanka Chopra quits Salman Khan’s Bharat to marry Nick Jonas? Ali Abbas Zafar tweets best wishes
Hours before the news of Priyanka Chopra’s engagement to Nick Jonas was revealed, Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar confirmed she has quit Salman Khan’s Bharat. He also named Nick in the tweet.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas wedding seems to be imminent as Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar confirmed that the Quantico star has indeed left the film starring Salman Khan. Not happy with just confirming the news, Ali Abbas wrote that the reason why Priyanka left Bharat is “very, very special” and she informed them just in “the Nick of time”. Priyanka and the American singer have been dating for more than two months and now reports suggest that the couple is engaged. People magazine revealed that Priyanka and Nick got engaged on July 18 and wedding may take place later this year.
After fevered reports that Priyanka has bowed out of the ambitious Bharat, Priyanka’s return to Bollywood after three years in America where she did films and a TV show, Ali Abbas took to Twitter on Thursday morning. “Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special, she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her ... Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life,” he wrote. Bharat’s shooting started a few days ago and Priyanka was expected to join it in August.
Ali Abbas’s tweet seems to suggest what reports have been claiming all along that Priyanka is all set to marry her American boyfriend Nick Jonas. Priyanka and Nick’s whirlwind romance have kept them in the news constantly and international media has now said that the couple got engaged in London last week. In fact, her recent trip to India last month caused a mini ‘riot’ among the paparazzi and her millions of fans. Nick and she were here for a week, where among her many commitments, was the opportunity to introduce Nick to her mother, Dr Madhu Chopra.
However, pictures from her intimate dinner for industry friends, her holiday-in-a-holiday (which also had actor Parineeti Chopra in it) in Goa with beau Nick and finally her presence at the Ambani engagement bash with Nick in tow, was lapped up by all with gusto. The couple also made their relationship Instagram official and was often spotted together with Nick’s family in New York.
Meanwhile, with Salman as its lead, Bharat also stars the young sensation, Disha Patani. Priyanka is currently in Mumbai and is busy with Shonali Bose’s film, The Sky is Pink, reportedly the true-life story of Ayesha Chaudhary.
Speculation has already started who will replace Priyanka in Bharat. Online chatter is zeroing in on Katrina Kaif, Salman’s ex-girlfriend and his co-star from the succesful Tiger Zinda Hai and Ek Tha Tiger. It may be recalled that the Quantico actor was to be paid a hefty Rs 6.5 crore for her role in Bharat, as per a DNA report, making her the third highest paid female actor, with Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut leading the show. Bharat also stars Tabu and Sunil Grover in prominent roles.
Salman had earlier welcomed Priyanka to the Bharat team with a tweet. She had also replied, writing, “Very happy to be a part of #Bharat and see all of u on set!! @beingsalmankhan @atulreellife @aliabbaszafar #Eid2019.”
Salman and Priyanka have worked in a number of films together in the past. These include God Tussi Great Ho, Mujhse Shaadi Karoge and Salman-e-Ishq. Priyanka is also part of a Hollywood project, Isn’t It Love? She was seen shooting with Rebel Wilson and Liam Hemsworth on the streets of New York for the film.
