When Priyanka Chopra arrived at Taj Land's End, Bandra on Monday evening, clad in white, she was dressed like a bride ready to say, ‘I do’ at the altar. Interestingly, the outside of the ballroom was decorated to host a wedding celebration.

Later, at the press conference of her forthcoming film, 7 Khoon Maaf, she changed to become a black widow, apt for the mourning of the death of the seven husbands of Susanna, her character in the Vishal Bhardwaj directed movie.

The proceedings started after the actor placed a wreath on the coffin, which supported photographs of her seven husbands, played by John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Irrfan Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Annu Kapoor, Alexandr Dyachenko and Vivaan Shah.

Bhardwaj revealed that he was inspired to make the film after reading Susanna’s Seven Husbands, written by Ruskin Bond. On her part, Chopra said that she was inspired by the women in her family to don the different generations Susanna ages through — from her 20s to her 60s. “The make-up team, which has worked on films like The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, asked for the snaps of my mom and granny so they could have a better idea to show how I age in the movie,” she explained.

Raving about Chopra’s performance in the film, Bhardwaj recalled showing some portions to Shah Rukh Khan recently. “Since she has done Don and Don 2 with him and is killing her seven husbands in 7 Khoon Maaf, Shah Rukh said that while he is a hero, Priyanka is a Shero… an actor who does action as well as the men,” he said, reiterating, “She's the best actress in the industry.”

Vikas Bahl, CEO UTV Spotboy, added, “In 7 Khoon Maaf, the way she's portrayed the character, from her 20s to her 60s, is very commendable.”
