Kartik Aaryan’s infamous monologue highlighting the plight of men in relationships, from the film Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), became popular for all right reasons. As the film celebrates it’s sixth anniversary today, the 28-year-old reveals that the original monologue was much longer than what was actually shown in the film. “It was quite long and was cut in the final edit. By the end of the monologue, I was supposed to be exhausted, so I did push-ups before I shot the scene, to look drained,” says Kartik.
In fact, Kartik delivered the seven-minute dialogue in just one take. “The shot that you see in the film is the first and single shot, which was taken. It was all done in one shot,” adds the actor.
The film also featured debutants Raayo S Bakhirta, Nushrat Bharucha, Sonalli Sehgall , Ishita Raj Sharma and Divyendu Sharma. Since everyone was new on the set, Kartik recalls how it made the shoot even more fun. “The shoot was just amazing. Even today, I remember each and every day of the shoot so vividly. Of course, I was bullied a lot, as I was the youngest. But it was so much fun,” says Kartik, adding, “It was my debut film, so everything about it is memorable.”
Ask him what made him say yes for the film in the first place, and Kartik shares, “I fell in love with the film instantly. The moment the narration was done, I was confident that it would turn out to be an amazing film. I am happy that the film got the success that it deserved.”
