The first trailer of Raj Kapoor’s grandson Aadar Jain’s Bollywood debut is out.

The film will be directed by Habib Faisal, who gave both Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra their breakthrough first film, Ishaqzaade.

The three-minute-long trailer shows seven undertrials who come together to form a band in jail and their music becomes their only hope for freedom. Unlike the usual portrayal of prisons, Qaid Band trailer does not show the dark side of life in jail. Even when talking of the brutalities prisoners face at the hands of criminals, there is a light, practical approach.

Aadar is the younger son of Rima Jain, Raj Kapoor’s daughter. He is also the cousin of Ranbir, Karishma and Kareena Kapoor. He has previously worked as the assistant director to Farah Khan on Happy New Year and Karan Johar on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Qaidi Band also marks the Bollywood debut of Anya Singh - a young girl from Delhi.
