Ranveer Singh hopes his jodi with Bhansali will be recognised like Scorsese-De Niro

Even as rumours claim Karan Johar is upset with the actor for opting out of his film, he refuses to discuss the matter. Instead, he talks about Sanjay Leela Bhansali and their upcoming film together.

For the past few days, reports have claimed that filmmaker Karan Johar is upset with Ranveer Singh for opting out of his film, and, instead, choosing to do Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next. However, when we asked Ranveer whether his decision has indeed soured his equation with Karan, he remained evasive. “I can’t comment on the films that I am not doing. I will tell you about the people I am working with… like, I can talk to you about Mr Bhansali and his film. [But] I don’t see any point in talking about something that I am not doing,” he says.

Ask Ranveer if he is comfortable with his place in the industry, and he says, “I don’t want to be comfortable. I want to challenge my own boundaries. I always want to do something out of my comfort zone. Zoya’s (Akhtar) film is, perhaps, one of those things that are not in my comfort zone. Like, I feel very comfortable with Mr Bhansali. He understands and recognises my strengths and utilises them. That is why he and I make a great combination.”

In fact, Ranveer hopes that one day, he and Bhansali will also be recognised as “one of those legendary (director-actor) pairs like Manmohan Desai-Amitabh Bachchan and Martin Scorsese-Robert De Niro”. He adds, “He (Bhansali) is a very gifted filmmaker. Even when his films don’t do well commercially, they carry a certain class. I wouldn’t bat an eyelid before collaborating with him because I know, better than anybody else, what he does to me and for me.”
