Salman Khan, Shah Rukh or Aamir: Who is the biggest star?
We compare the opening day figures of the three biggest films of Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman. Of course, acting skills and personal traits do not account for the crores at the box office.
As Sultan becomes the highest opener of 2016 with Rs 36.54 crores on day one, some of us are discussing the short memory of the Indian masses (in reference to Salman’s recent rape comment) while others credit a comparatively more logical storyline than a normal Salman movie for the huge opening collection at the box office.

But when we talk about a Khan film, the figures for opening day collection reflects the star power alone. What follows as weekend, first week and lifetime box office figures becomes more of a combined result of word of mouth and reviews.
With SRK-Salman fans’ rivalry much alive despite the stars’ newfound love for each other, we bring a new twist to the story: Who is the biggest star of them all? For this, we will compare the opening day figures of the three biggest films of Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman. Of course, acting skills and personal traits do not account for the crores at the box office.
Sultan made a collection of Rs 36.54 crores on day one while his last two films, Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) made Rs 27.25 crore and Rs 40.35 crore respectively. Kick (2014) earned Rs 26.40 on the opening day.
Fan (2016) earned Rs 19.20 crores on day one while Dilwale (2015) earned Rs 21 crore . Happy New Year (2014) collected Rs 44.97 crore on the first day of its release.
Dhoom 3 (2013) made an opening with Rs 36.22 crore while PK (2015) earned Rs 26.63 crore on day one. Talaash (2012) earned Rs 13.5 crore on the first day of its release.
Now, going by day one collection of the most recent films of the three Khans, Salman is the winner while SRK will be placed last with a mere Rs 19.20 crore for Fan. While Sultan had a huge Rs 36.54 crore opening collection, Aamir’s PK, too, made an impressive opening with Rs 26.23 crore.
If we calculate the sum total of opening day collections of the last three films of the Khans, we discover that Salman is still on top with Rs 104.14 crore as a sum total. However, this brings Shah Rukh above Aamir with SRK making Rs 85.17 crore while Aamir makes for sum total of Rs 76.35 crore.
Verdict: If box office collections are the parameters, we can safely pronounce that Salman Khan is the most bankable and the biggest star among the three Khans of Bollywood.
