Reports of late have been suggesting that Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan will come together for a special song in the short film ensemble, Bombay Talkies. Apparently, other celebrities such as Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are likely to be a part of the ambitious project as well. Now, we’ve learnt that even Salman Khan was asked for the venture, but the actor declined the offer.

A source close to the film says, “The point was to get these big names from the industry in one song which will be common to all the four short stories that form the movie. Salman was approached but he declined citing date issues.” But the source adds that the real reason behind Salman’s refusal could be something else.

The source says, “Salman didn’t want to be in the same frame as Shah Rukh. It’s common knowledge that after their spat a few years ago, the two don’t see eye-to-eye. And when he found out that SRK has given his nod for the song, he didn’t show much interest. Though SRK hasn’t shot for it yet, it looks difficult to get both these actors together for the song.”

The track is being choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant and will be played during the opening or closing credits. Aamir Khan has already finished shooting his bit for the number. However, Shah Rukh is still to shoot his part as he is currently busy with Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express and the on-going T20 tournament.

Bombay Talkies, a movie created to celebrate the centennial of Indian cinema, will release on May 3.
