Sources close to the family said Shah Rukh arrived early morning from Mumbai, putting all his work related commitments on hold. Gauri has been staying in the capital for a while to be with her father, who was admitted to Escorts Hospital for more than a week.
Shah Rukh arrived at the crematorium with his mother-in-law Savita Chibba, while Gauri came in a separate car. He was seen comforting his distraught mother-in-law who appeared to be in shock after the sudden demise.”Bahut ro rahi thi aur kuch kha nahi rahe the. Phir unko paani pilaya - khaane ke liye bola. Phir jaake unhone khana khaya,” a source close to the family said.

While there was no sign of Shah Rukh and Gauri’s children, many close friends were at the venue to be with the family and pay their respects. Filmmaker Karan Johar, actor-producer Sachin Joshi and politician Rajeev Shukla among others were present at the gathering.

Karan Johar took to Twitter and expressed his sadness. “Death is the only reminder of Life....” he wrote.
Some members from the family argued with mediapersons present at the crematorium to respect their family’s privacy.
