Gearing for the movie release this Friday (October 23), Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt shared a teaser of Eena Meena Deeka, a song which recreates of the 60s hit number, from their upcoming film.
The complete song will only be released with the film. Shahid and Alia are seen dancing on the tunes of the 60s hit track in a playful mood in the teaser of the new song, which will be launched on the date of movie release.
Incidentally, ‘Eena meena deeka’ is considered one of Bollywood’s first rock ‘n’ roll numbers. It is said that its lyrics were inspired by kids who were chanting the nursery rhyme, ‘Eeny, meeny, miny, moe’ outside the musician’s studio when the song was being composed. That chant inspired Ramchandra and his assistant, John Gomes to compose the first line — ‘Eena meena deeka, de dai damanika’ — of the song. Gomes added the words ‘Maka naka’ (Konkani for ‘I don’t want’).
This remixed version of Eena Meena Deeka has been composed by Mikey Mcclearly, who is known for his unusual twists on Bollywood classics, while the original song from the 1957 film Aasha was composed by C Ramchandra and sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle.
