Two films, starring high profile actors, released this weekend -- Kangana Ranaut’s Simran and Farhan Akhtar’s Lucknow Central. And clearly Simran has moved ahead in the race. After day 1, the film has made Rs 2.77 crore at the box office and is showing signs of growth. Meanwhile, Lucknow Central too has had a modest opening, picking up Rs 2.04 crore, despite a rather quiet publicity campaign.
But first Simran.
Taran Adarsh tweeted on Saturday, stating that the film has made Rs 2.77 crore and is showing a prospect for growth, particularly with the multiplex audience. He said: #Simran witnessed growth at plexes of metros... Fri ? 2.77 cr. India biz.

The reviews of Simran haven’t really been glowing, though Kangana’s act has been praised. The film has otherwise been called disappointing.
Kangana’s act of a deeply flawed but lovable character has been appreciated by all. As a 30-year-old Gujarati divorcee who stays with her parents in Georgia, USA, Kangana is a delight to behold. Her no-holds-bar personality flows through her character Praful Patel, who is caught between stifling atmosphere at home thanks to her over-bearing father and her own tryst with crime.
Meanwhile, talking about Lucknow Central, Taran Adarsh says: #LucknowCentral Fri ? 2.04 cr. India biz... Growth on Sat and Sun is crucial.

Lucknow Central is based on true events and tells the story of Kishen Mohan Girhotra, played by Farhan Akhtar. Coming from a small town, he suddenly finds himself in a tight spot and lands in a jail. Behind bars, he manages to make friends with other inmates and together they form a music band. That, of course, is also a cover as they hatch a plan to escape the jail.
