Will Ishaan Khatter-Janhvi Kapoor’s Dhadak end Sanju’s run at the box office?
Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju, a biopic on controversial Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, is still going strong at the box office, but it might not be very smooth for it now. Dhadak starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor has hit the screens now, and it may end Sanju’s victory run.
As per film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Dhadak has opened on 2235 screens in India. It has also been allotted 556 screens in the overseas market.
With these many screens, Dhadak is likely to open big, however, it will have to sustain its numbers in the first weekend. The film has got mixed reviews and that may have an impact on the film’s total tally.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, Dhadak has opened to 30 per cent occupancy which may go up if the film garners a positive word of mouth. Dhadak is the remake of 2016 Marathi film Sairat.
Shashank Khaitan, the director of Dhadak, said in an interview to IANS, “I am feeling calm and composed because of the way this film has turned out to be. I am really happy with it. The gun has been fired and now nothing is in our hands. So, I am just excited about the audience reaction. Praying that they will like the film.”
He also talked about film’s producer Karan Johar. Shashank said, “Karan is really happy and he said he was proud to have made this movie but it is not right we praise our own film. We want audience to watch the film and talk about it.”
