John Abraham, who stars in Aashayein, says, "The subject got us so hooked that Nagesh (director Kukunoor) and I didn’t even charge our usual remuneration. I’m hopeful that the film will do well because Udaan also found takers."
But small budget film White Elephant’s director Aijaz Khan’s wait isn’t over. "I wish I had waited to hear from Aamir Khan," he says. "I had sent my script to his office. When I didn’t hear from them, I moved on."
His film has been ready for over a year and a half: NFDC and Walkwater haven’t promoted it. It needs Rs 75 lakh. It’s my mistake that I didn’t mention this expense in the contract," says Khan.
Meanwhile, debutant director Lalit Marathe has nearly given up hope on Shabri, which was produced by Ram Gopal Varma. "There has been no news ever since we were working on post production in 2006," he says. The last time he spoke to Varma, he told him the film would release when the multiplex strike ended.
Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai is expected to release this year as producer Ravi Chopra settled matters with Fox for Rs 1 crore, after they sued him for copying My Cousin Vinny.
Koochie Koochie Hota Hai
Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Rani Mukherji
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and Vishal Sonawane, this film was to release this summer to mark the 12th anniversary of producer Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
Cast: Preity Zinta, Shiney Ahuja
This a love story between two neighbours, played by Zinta and Ahuja. When last checked, the film was in post-production in 2008. Last year, Ahuja’s association with a rape case also threw the film’s release off gear.
Cast: Isha Koppikar
Writer-turned-director Lalit Marathe’s first film about a lady don was heavily promoted on music channels in 2006. Then the promos vanished, and so did the film. Koppikar claimed it to be one of her best roles.
Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai
Cast: Govinda, Lara Dutta
Ravi Chopra, the director of this film claimed he had the permission for the remake of this film, which is a copy of My Cousin Vinny. The film was slated to release on July 9 this year, but has now been pushed.
Cast: Himesh Reshammiya
A lawyer falls in love with a prostitute. The film revolves around how they manage to find true love within that situation. Pooja Bhatt and Himesh Reshammiya set out to make this film in 2007-2008.
Chatur Singh Two Star
Cast: Sanjay Dutt
It’s about an infamous member of the Mumbai Police force, Chatur Singh who knows everything about nothing. In spite of being a disgrace, he has been handed the biggest case in the department’s history.

Mr Bhatti On Chutti
