India to be focus of Sharjah International Book Fair

India will be the focus of this year's Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) in the UAE which will have participation of leading Indian authors and international publishers.

India will be the focus of this year's Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) in the UAE which will have participation of leading Indian authors and international publishers.

The 30th edition of Sharjah International Bookfair, which has been declared as 'India Focus year', will be held between November 16-26 at Sharjah Expo Centre.

The bookfair, organised by the Sharjah government, will draw 750 publishers and will be showcasing books from 42 countries.

The fair is expected to attract more than 400,000 visitors from both trade and consumer markets.

"Popular Indian authors like Ruskin Bond, Shashi Tharoor, Shobha De, Chetan Bhagat, Vasudevan Nair will participate in the fair. Minister of Civil Aviation and Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi is scheduled to attend the book fair," Consul General of India in Dubai said in a statement.

Arab ministers, several ambassadors and other VIPs are will also attend the event.

Over 50 international publishers across 16 countries including Japan, Russia, US, Romania, UK and Mexico have confirmed their attendance.

The programme will also be attended by Arab publishers from across the region keen to build their networks with international publishers.
