When former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's memoir Going Rogue: An American Life goes on sale next month, it will have a competitor in the form of the parody Going Rouge: An American Nightmare.

The rival mock memoir to Palin's book goes on sale on November 17 alongside the former Republican vice-presidential candidate's autobiography, reports The Telegraph.

A spokesman for the publishers said the mock memoir would "examine Palin's quirky origins in Wasilla, Alaska, her spectacular rise to the effective leadership of the Republican Party and the nightmarish prospect of her continuing to dominate the nation's political scene".

Palin's real memoir is to be published by HarperCollins with an initial print run of 1.5 million copies and is an early bestseller on Amazon.com.

The former Alaska governor is used to being parodied, having been remorselessly set up by Tina Fey during last year's presidential election campaign.

The actress's impersonations of Mrs Palin on Saturday Night Live won her an Emmy.

Palin took that parody in good humour, on one occasion appearing alongside her doppelgänger on the show.
