On a hot Thursday afternoon, the entire cast and crew of upcoming Punjabi film, Oye Hoye Pyar Ho Gaya, were spotted shaking a leg for the camera at the grounds of Buda Dal Public School, on Zirakpur-Patiala highway.
On the sets of director Aditya Sood’s movie, which is set for a May 24 release, Punjabi singer Sharry Mann was seen tapping his feet — to a peppy song that went something like ‘Yaar aa gaya nake sare todh ke, tennu rang laun de laiye’ — with newcomer Niharika Karee. The song, like all other songs of the movie, except an item number, has been written and sung by Sharry Mann, who is making his acting debut with the film.
As we get talking to Sharry, he breaks into a song, “Holi wale din Bullet da silencer lavayah…” Explaining himself, he adds, “Every Holi, Punjabi guys get rid of their Bullets’ silencers, to make noise and add onto to the festivity of the day. So, I decided to contribute to the festival of colours with these quirky lyrics.” The song would be releasing online before Holi (March 27).
“It was Aditya’s idea to have a Holi song in a Punjabi film,” claims choreographer Bhupendra Sayan (aka Bhupi). The choreographer is also a committee member of the Indian Film Dance Directors Association (IFDDA) and claims to have assisted Saroj Khan for a few years. About shaping Aditya’s idea, Bhupi adds, “I have been in the industry for the past 30 years now, and have about 15 Punjabi films to my credit. Thus, I can say it with full confidence that this is the first time that a Holi dance sequence is being included in a Punjabi film. We made the sequence colourful, as the song leads to the climax of the film.”
Protagonists Sharry and Niharika were seen wearing sunshine yellow, which added to the festive mood of the set. Actors Rana Ranbir, Binnu Dhillon , Jimmy Sharma and Sardar Sohi (Bollywood and Punjabi actor) were also seen celebrating Holi on the sets of the film.
