Ahem! You may have noticed that almost all my predictions on what may be announced at IFA were absolutely correct. You may also have noticed that I am not one to dwell on such terrific achievements and thump my chest. Just a “wow, that was awesome” from all of you will suffice :)

Taking things forward, IFA Berlin this year was outstanding. And as proof, here’s a very quick look at what was the absolute best on the massive show floor.

Stress Buster

Fitbit Charge 2

Adding to its already long list of features, the Charge 2 gets a bigger screen, good looks, a heart rate sensor, a stress beating breathing module as well as VO2 max rating.

The Perfect Picture

Moto Z Play

Easily the best phone of the show, it’s a modular device that snaps on Mods like the Hasselblad True Zoom with a 10x optical zoom and a Xenon flash. A snap on projector Mod showcases all the stunning pictures.

Band of Info

TomTom Touch

This seems to do what other bands can do, until you press the silver button. Kaboom! A full body analysis appears with muscle and fat percentages. The jury is still out on accuracy but the feature is impressive.

Thin is In

Acer Swift 7

The world’s thinnest notebook is a looker. A stunning metal unibody shell, serious power in its svelte body, 8GB of RAM, and a 13.3-inch display. All of it in less than 1 cm!

Powerfully Light

LG Gram 15

Holding this is a surreal experience as it’s a full 15-inch laptop with seriously powerful hardware, no compromise on the inside and out and still weighs in at about 900 grams.

A Gamer’s Delight

Acer Predator 21X

A beast that can chew up any gaming desktop in both looks and performance. A 21-inch curved screen, screaming hardware and a built in eye- tracking system. This device looks more like a monster character in a game than just a game-playing machine.

A Fun Phone

Sony XZ

Sony rebooted and reinvented its smartphone lineup and came up with the unfortunately named XZ. But it’s a great looking phone with a 23MP camera sensor, 5-axis stabilisation, plus it’s totally waterproof.

Michelangelo’s Masterpiece

HP Pavilion Wave

Desktops are ugly and boring. Not anymore! This one’s more art than PC. Comes with a fabric-wrapped design and a built-in 360-degree Bang & Olufsen speaker.

Worthy Lookalike

Asus Zenbook 3

If you thought Apple was participating at IFA, it would be because of this device. Looking like the MacBook, the ZenBook 3 is lighter, thinner, with more ports and even a full travel keyboard.

Stylish Way to Fitness

Fitbit Flex 2

Take it for a swim and it’ll count your laps, use it as a smart notification system for your phone, and then in the evening, the ladies (and some men) can put it into a pendant or bracelet case and jazz up the night.

Better Everything

Samsung Gear S3

This smartwatch gives the Apple watch a run for its money. Classy, better battery, bigger screen, water resistant, always-on screen and features that blow your mind.

Art Attack

Lenovo Yoga Book

A tech dream takes shape of a device with a halo keyboard that converts to a full-scale digitiser board. Full-blown laptop, tablet and a digital art tool: at the press of a button.

The Victory Dial

Asus ZenWatch 3

A stunning circular-shaped smartwatch with Gorilla Glass, 4GB of storage, HyperCharge wireless charging and some serious battery life. Asus wins the smartwatch war, but maybe just for a few seconds.

Winning Posture

Lenovo Yoga 910

Improving on the Yoga 900, this one is more powerful, more classy and still has that amazingly roomy keyboard. Not to mention it comes with a 4K screen and is 15mm thin.
