BJP demands SEBI's intervention in stock market crash

BJP on Monday asked market regulator, Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to look into the crash in the stock market.

The party was of the view that such a sharp slide will adversely affect small-time investors.

"The interests of small investors is important for the BJP," party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said while noting that the market regulator should look into such crashes.

The stock market tumbled by 1,408.35 points today, the biggest single-day loss, shaving off over Rs six trillion from investors' wealth.
