The company is looking at scaling up its presence in the Indian market and is known to be interested in setting up a new manufacturing plant in the region, which will be as large as its Baddi plant in Himachal Pradesh.

The chocolate maker is in the process of short-listing sites across the state and the deal is likely to be signed in the next quarter. "We do not comment on rumours or speculation. In every market in which we operate, we continuously evaluate all opportunities available to us to further the growth of our business," said a Cadbury spokesperson.

Cadbury India currently has six company-owned manufacturing facilities across the country. These are in Thane, Induri (Pune), Malanpur (Gwalior), Bangalore, Baddi and Hyderabad.

The Baddi manufacturing plant, Cadbury’s largest facility in India, recently came under the excise scanner. About 70% of the company’s total manufacturing is done at the Baddi plant.
