Hutch increases roaming charges

The increase in roaming charges is upto 200% to Rs 3/min for both incoming and outgoing calls as against Re 1 previously.

Hutchinson-Essar, which operates Hutch cellular services, announced upto 200 per cent increase in roaming charges to Rs 3 per minute for both incoming and outgoing calls as against Re 1 previously.

Roaming charges have been increased only for the Hutch network, company sources said, adding that Hutch customers roaming on other cellular networks were paying Rs 3 a minute earlier and would continue to pay same the same charges.

On short messaging services (SMS), however, Hutch has reduced the charges to Rs 2 per SMS from Rs 3 while roaming throughout the country.

New tariffs with regard to roaming and SMS came into effect from Saturday.

The third cellular operator in the Capital, Idea Cellular has also increased the roaming charges but the details were not available.
