India with its right initiatives can become an example to show the world how to deal with the AIDS "epidemic", Micorsoft chief Bill Gates said.
Gates, who is on a four-day tour to India amidst tight security, made these comments while visiting the office of a non-governmental organisation (NGO), 'Naz India' here. He also participated in a training programme on creating awareness on AIDS.
"The problem of AIDS needs lots of great people ... A lot needs to be done...I came here to learn and understand the problem and how to reach out to people to prevent the spread of disease," Gates said.
He said the 'Bill and Melinda Gates foundation' was likely to announce an initiative for the country on AIDS front so that the "epidemic" remains as small as possible.
"It is a topic that needs a great deal of discussions. India can become an expample in dealing with the peoblem," he said.
Stating that he had learned a lot by interacting with the people during his visit to NGO, Gates said "I was touched by meeting especially the children."
