NDTV tells WPP to ‘clean up’

NDTV today asked global advertising WPP to “clean-up” their system and not indulge in public relations exercise., HT reports.

NDTV on Thursday asked global advertising WPP to “clean-up” their system and not indulge in public relations exercise.

“NDTV is baffled and amused by the PR effort by WPP. PR is clearly the main aim, as the WPP statement contains a number of legal flaws,” the TV channel said in a statement here.

“We suggest that WPP should focus on honestly fixing... their badly damaged and dishonest ratings system in India - which in their statement they acknowledge they have control over and is their responsibility,” it added.

Last month, NDTV had filed a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court accusing WPP, ratings company Nielsen and TAM Media among others for manipulating viewership data.

WPP had termed the lawsuit as “hypothetical.”
