Sales push for NTPC profit, net up 13% at Rs 2,076 cr

India’s largest power producer National Thermal Power Corp (NTPC) on Monday reported a 13% year-on-year jump in net profit at Rs 2,075.8 crore for the quarter ended June against Rs 1,841.9 crore last year.

India’s largest power producer National Thermal Power Corp (NTPC) on Monday reported a 13% year-on-year jump in net profit at Rs 2,075.8 crore for the quarter ended June against Rs 1,841.9 crore last year.

The company’s sales rose to Rs 14,524.2 crore in the April-June quarter of the current fiscal year compared to Rs 13,006.3 crore in the year-ago period.

The state-owned power firm has an installed capacity to generate 34,854 MW of power. “Pending determination of station-wise tariff by the CERC, sales have been provisionally recognised at Rs 1,281,933 lakh during the quarter ended June 30 against Rs 1,193,111 lakh a year-ago)...,” the company said in a statement.

NTPC recently mopped up $500 million through an international bond issue. The company has also signed a R10,000-crore (over $2-billion) loan agreement with State Bank of India.

NTPC’s upcoming projects include the 1,320-MW Solapur plant and the 4,000-MW mega-thermal power plant in Karnataka.
