Concerns over crumbling prices of LCDs for televisions and computer monitors have intensified in recent weeks as panel makers ramp up production, hurting shares in market leaders Samsung Electronics and LG.Philips LCD.
"The LCD prices are expected to fall 20 per cent in the third quarter," president of Samsung's LCD business SW Lee, was quoted by a spokeswoman as saying at a technology conference in the south of Korea.
"However, from the fourth quarter, demand for LCDs will grow as customers turn to LCDs from cathode ray tubes (CRTs) in the wake of a price fall," he said.
