Sensex rises by 100 points in early trade

The 30-share index, which continues to move upwards in the last few sessions, rises by 99.92 points at 17,391.02 points.

The benchmark index gained nearly 100 points in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday on sustained buying by funds in heavy weight stocks like Reliance Energy and Maruti.

The 30-share index, Sensex, which continued to move upwards in the last few sessions, rose by 99.92 points at 17,391.02 points in first five minutes of trade.

Similarly, broad-based National Stock Exchange index, Nifty, rose by 32.50 points at 5,053.85 points.

The stocks of index link Reliance Energy and Maruti Suzuki rose on favourable corporate report amid surging global stock markets.
