Sony says CEO Stringer to double as president

Sony Corp said its president, Ryoji Chubachi, would step down and that CEO Howard Stringer would also assume Chubachi's job.

Sony Corp said on Friday its president, Ryoji Chubachi, would step down and that CEO Howard Stringer would also assume Chubachi's job.

Chubachi will become a vice chairman.

By consolidating leadership, Sony aims to speed the implementation of its strategy to combine its electronics and game business operations.

Sony will hold a news conference at 5:30 pm (0830 GMT) on the management change.
