Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle brand Vida has taken a key step towards entering the electric motorcycle space with the Vida Ubex design now patented in India. The filing suggests that the electric bike, first shown as a concept, is moving closer to a production-ready form. However, a design patent still does not confirm that the launch is happening. Sometimes a patent is filed to protect the design of a product.

The Ubex was originally unveiled at EICMA 2025, where it stood out for its sharp and futuristic styling. While the concept version leaned heavily on radical design elements, the patent images show a more realistic and mass-market friendly approach.

Design highlights from the patent

The patented design reveals several changes aimed at practicality and cost efficiency. The bike now features a cleaner front end with a projector-style headlamp and LED DRLs. The suspension setup appears more conventional, with standard telescopic front forks replacing the more premium components seen on the concept.

Other visible elements include a stepped single-piece seat, alloy wheels, disc brakes at both ends, and a compact tail section. Overall, the design still looks modern and distinctive but clearly tuned for everyday usability.

What we know so far

Hero has not yet disclosed technical details such as battery size, motor output, or claimed range. However, the proportions and stance of the Ubex suggest that it is likely aimed at urban riders and daily commuters rather than the high-performance segment.

The patent filing itself does not confirm a launch timeline, but it strongly hints that Hero is preparing to expand Vida’s portfolio beyond electric scooters and into motorcycles. A near-production version could be showcased at an upcoming auto or mobility event before an official launch.

Part of a bigger EV push

The Ubex is expected to be one of multiple electric motorcycles planned under the Vida brand. The brand also showcased Dirt.E electric off-roading motorcycles and Project VxZ, which was developed in collaboration with Zero Motorcycles.
