A three-year-old girl was crushed under a tractor near Tripari village near Kharar around 1.30pm on Thursday.

Police said a family of four was on the way home on a motorbike - the girl standing in front, her father driving, the mother and two-year-old brother on the backseat -- from Kurali after paying obeisance at a gurdwara.

The tractor emerged suddenly from a slip road onto the main road, hitting the scooter. While the others fell on the side, the girl, Chander Preet Kaur, fell under the tractor, and the rear tyre mowed her to death. The family belongs to village Chunni Kalan village. The police have registered case against tractor driver Bhag Singh of Badala village, who fled the spot.
