7-year-old murdered after gangrape in Ludhiana, cousin, his friend booked
A 21-year-old youth and his friend have been arrested for allegedly gangraping and murdering his seven-year-old cousin in Doraha on Saturday night.
As per the girl’s mother, the accused, who is her sister’s son, and his friend had come to their house on Saturday evening. The duo consumed liquor with the girl’s father after which he went out for some work. Following this, the two accused lured the seven-year-old with chocolates and took her away.
When the girl did not return, the family initiated a search for her but to no avail. They then filed a kidnapping complaint against the duo. The girl’s body was later recovered from an abandoned godown in Lakkar Mandi of Doraha.
As per the post-mortem report, the girl was raped, strangulated and then bludgeoned to death with bricks.
Inspector Karnail Singh, the station house officer at Doraha police station, said the accused have been booked under Section 302 (murder), 363 (kidnapping) and 376-A (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
