Hundreds of guest teachers led by district president Shashi Bhushan held a massive demonstration against the state government near district education office (DEO) for back tracking on its promises, on Thursday.

Hundreds of guest teachers led by district president Shashi Bhushan held a massive demonstration against the state government near district education office (DEO) for back tracking on its promises, on Thursday.

The teachers also blocked Ambala-Hisar road near Aggarsain Chowk for half an hour and also burnt an effigy of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Following the blockade, hundreds of vehicles lined up on both sides of the state highway and the motorists had a harrowing time getting past.

Sources said the blockade was lifted after a large police force reached near Aggarsain Chowk following which, the protestors moved towards health minister Anil Vij's residence to hand over a memorandum of their demands.

Addressing the protestors, Bhushan said that the present government has gone back from its promises to guest teachers in the run up of assembly elections adding that BJP had promised that their services would be regularised.

He claimed that instead of regularisation, the present government is preparing to remove 4,073 teachers showing them as a surplus.

Bhushan said that before the elections, Vij had promised for their absorption and had raised the issue in the assembly when he was an opposition MLA adding that now he is keeping mum over the issue.

He said that the assembly session was in progress but no MLA has raised their demands.
