Cold conditions prevailed at many places in Punjab and Haryana, which was lashed by rains during the past couple of days, with Amritsar being the coldest place at a low of 3 degrees Celsius.

Amritsar's minimum temperature settled a notch below normal, the MeT Department here said. Ludhiana and Patiala, however, recorded near normal minimum temperatures of 9.3 deg C and 9.6 deg C, respectively.

Chandigarh had a cold night at 7.6 deg C. In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest place recording a
low of 4 deg C, three notches below normal, while Hisar, too, experienced a cold night at 5.8 deg C, two below normal.

Ambala registered a low of 8.5 deg C, two degrees above normal, while Karnal and Bhiwani recorded respective minimum temperatures of 8.5 deg C and 8 deg C.

The maximum temperatures in the two states and Chandigarh have been hovering below normal for the past few days, settling in the range of 15-20 degrees Celsius.
