Army chief visits Pathankot, Yol
Chief of the Army staff Gen Bikram Singh accompanied by his wife Bubbles Singh, president Central Family Welfare Organization (FWO) would address an ex-servicemen rally on Sunday at Pathankot.
Disclosing this here Friday the spokesman of the Army said having declared 2012 as "Year of the Veteran" during Army Day on January 15 this year, the Army was giving a huge impetus to issues related to welfare of ex-servicemen and Veer Naris.
He said on this occasion, the chief of the Army staff would first visit Yol Cantonment near Dharamsala, headquarters of the Rising Star Corps which was responsible for northern Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir, where he would take stock of the operational preparedness of this strategic corps.
Gen Singh would then visit Pathankot where he would honour gallantry award winners and their families. The event was expected to draw a large number of ex-servicemen, Army spokesman added.
On the occasion, a large number of assistance stalls concerning pension, insurance, resettlement, education and housing were being established at the venue, he further added.
