Badal approves Rs 220 crore for upgradation of healthcare

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday gave approval to sanction Rs 220 crore, from Punjab Infrastructure Development Board and Rural Development Board, for upgradation of infrastructure to strengthen the network of government hospitals in the state.

Badal took this decision at a high level meeting in Chandigarh called to review important schemes of the state health department, an official spokesman said.

Badal stressed the need for providing the requisite manpower and other facilities in all health institutions.

Badal assured the Health Department that the amount of Rs 300 crore was not a big deal.

He said the National Rural Health Mission would contribute about Rs 80 crore and the remaining Rs 220 crore would be provided by the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board and the Rural Development Board.

He emphasised the need for close monitoring of doctors and all health institutions.
