However, he and his family members were regularly holding public meetings on weekends. After the railgate scam, which came to the light on May 3, the local MP did not convene a single meeting till the first week of June.
In the morning, the local MP was with the members of Youth Congress at Sector 35 to send a truck of relief material to Uttarakhand, later he held a meeting with the members of residents' welfare association (RWA) of Sector 22 and market welfare association at the community centre in Sector 22. He also inaugurated membership drive at Hallomajra.
While addressing the RWA members, Pawan Bansal said he was committed to complete all those works which were still pending.
He was of the view that the local transport system should be strengthened and there was a need of another hospital in the third phase of the city for which he was in touch with the authorities at different level.
The MP said the trains which were announced from Chandigarh to Shirdi, Nanded sahib, Katra, Bihar and other destinations would be definitely on track very soon.
Those present on the occasion included Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee (CTCC) president B Bahl, mayor Subhash Chawla and former mayor Pardeep Chhabra.
Madhu addressed a public meeting organised by the Mahila Congress at Sector 52, while Manish addressed a meeting at Rajeev Colony in Sector 38.
Madhu said to strengthen the organisation they would start a membership drive in the city. She told the workers to keep the target of enrolling 30,000 women members by September 30.
Manish assured the residents of Rajiv Colony of getting houses under the government of India scheme. He said all people whose names have featured in the 2006 electoral list would definitely get houses.
Pawan Kumar Bansal was in eye of storm after his nephew Vijay Singla was arrested on May 3 by the CBI for accepting a bribe of Rs 90 lakh from a senior railway official, who wanted lucrative posting. He was forced to resign from the ministry.
