Congress deputy leader in the Lok Sabha and All India Jat Mahasabha president Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday said Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had denied the benefit of reservation under the other backward classes (OBC) category to the poor section among the Jat community of the state.

Addressing a state-level convention organised to appoint state and district-level office bearers of the sabha here, Amarinder wondered why Badal was dilly-dallying on the issue.

"Let me clarify that the reservation is only for the poor Jats and not the rich ones like me or Mr Badal," he said, adding that the children of poor Jats from Punjab could have got admission in various educational institutions under the OBC category, besides jobs in the union government, including IAS and IPS, had Badal implemented the decision on Jat reservation.
